Fundraising for the North Country SPCA
How You Can Help:
Many people ask how they can help raise money for the NCSPCA. In the past, generous and
energetic donors have put on benefit concerts, fashion shows, dog washes, lemonade stands,
bake sales, and golf tournaments.
While we are deeply grateful for these efforts, as a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit corporation we
must be very careful to follow strict regulations regarding fund-raising, gifts in kind, and
matching grants. There are also limitations as to how our name and logos may be used.
This page explains the official procedures for helping the NCSPCA raise money. We thank
you, and so do the dogs and cats! Please contact the Shelter before you begin planning your
event.
1. Approval
Fundraisers must be proposed to and approved by the NCSPCA at least a month before the
event. Exactly how money will be raised and what percentage will go to the shelter must be
specified. (This accounting is required by 501(c)(3) regulations).
2. Publicity
We will be happy to help you with publicity, including design of posters, supplying you with
pdfs or jpegs of our logo, etc. All designs must be approved by the Shelter’s Publicity
Committee. We can post an announcement of your event on our web site and send e-mail
notifications to our mailing list.
3. Thank-you’s
Please keep track of the names and contact information of those who helped so that we can
thank them afterward. Take photos! We may include your event, with pictures, in our semiannual
newsletter, PawPrints, and of course your contribution will be listed in our annual
accounting.
Thank you very much for thinking of the animals at the Shelter. All of us who care for them
and work to find them permanent new homes are profoundly grateful to you. Their lives are,
quite literally, in all of our hands. Thank you.
